Watched Huron Perth in last 2 playoff series & saw some tournament games. They are dominating when they want to be. Cowings game has dropped off slightly from last year while Mciver is gaining momentum. Watch out for this D-man to make a splash. When paired with Nichol the tandem is virtually unbeatable.

Top 5- Meurs- Cowing-Penney up front with Mciver-Nichol on the back end

  7. Comment by Mark G. on March 2, 2008 1:12 am

What about Jonathan Chapman, Taylor O’keefe, Evan Canzi and Shane Macdonald from the Guelph Jr. Storm, I have watched a few of their games and they look like the have some potential.

  8. Comment by Mark G. on March 2, 2008 1:16 am

this list is missing lots of talented hockey players for example Drake Wilton, I think that is his name from the Oakville Rangers

  9. Comment by Jordan on March 3, 2008 2:43 am

Where the hell is Thibodeau from Sault, Kord from Timmins and Cameron from Northbay. This site is missing alot of raw talent.

  10. Comment by Ron on March 15, 2008 5:33 pm

I have watched the Oakville Rangers play and there top line of Ryan Adams, Adrian Skakie and Drake Wilton are a powerhouse every game they play.

  11. Comment by Ron on March 15, 2008 5:37 pm

What are u talking about Mark! …
there are no key players on guelph that i have seen.

  12. Comment by Kevin S on March 15, 2008 5:39 pm

You’re right Jordan, Thibodeau is a monster- 6′ winger that plays hard on the boards; Kord is a personal favourite- very smooth skater but should play forward with Levesque.

  13. Comment by Mark G. on March 15, 2008 11:09 pm

Ron do u watch hockey??? Guelph has double as many good players as Oakville does, I will say Oakville does have a few but Guelph has a stronger core of players.

  14. Comment by Steve on March 16, 2008 6:41 pm

Colin Sharpe should be on the list as well. A real smart player…and has great hands.

  15. Comment by John K on March 20, 2008 8:05 pm

Mark, you say that Guelph has better players than Oakville? Check out what happened in the OMHA’s, Guelph went 0-4, and Oakville lost out in a tie break, and Oakville also beat Guelph 2-1. Shut your mouth and get your stuff straight.

  16. Comment by Mark G. on March 20, 2008 8:40 pm

Well John, has the 93 oakville team ever gone to an OMHA tournament, let alone win it?? If my stats are correct Guelph won the OMHA’s in 04-05 so clearly I do know my stuff.

  17. Comment by John K on March 21, 2008 3:57 pm

Actually, four years ago they made it to the OMHA’s. They may not have won it but they gave it a shot. Beating York Simcoe, and Clarington, but not getting into the finals… The only way Guelph can even win a game is if theyre at their home rink with their paid refs and their cheap shots…
    yup

  18. Comment by Ron on March 21, 2008 9:17 pm

I will give you that the guelph defense is better then oakville but oakville has i would say one of the best offensive groups in the league. Plus i still can’t get over the way that Adrian Skakie, Drake Wilton andRyan Adams have played over the season no other team has the chemistry of those players

  19. Comment by dane fox on March 22, 2008 1:51 am

where is ulrick from quinte. miller and rogers from timmins. noxly emmerton and salo from rebels griffith and fox and bean from chatham. gillies ox and moore ?..i think the list needs to be updated? cause it is missing some good hockey players

  20. Comment by Ron on March 22, 2008 2:05 pm

    ulrick is on there

  21. Comment by John K on March 24, 2008 1:09 pm

Oakville’s defence might be crap, but theyre goaltending is probably around tops in the league. Two solid goalies coming out night after night…

  22. Comment by Criag Melvilan on March 24, 2008 10:00 pm

Guelph’s defense isn’t very good at all, and defiantly did struggle this year. So, I would give Oakville better defense. Also, although Oakville does have decent forwards, I think Macdonald, Cremasco, and Canzi would dominate any line Oakville put out there against them. Overall, both teams are evenly matched, I think.

  23. Comment by tron on March 24, 2008 10:09 pm

brett richie (93 of the toronto marlies) is probably the sickest thing that has ever happened to hockey. he will be number 1 draft pick of the OHL.
also note brandon fox is the [censured]] sickest golaie in the leauge. his nickname is tron

  24. Comment by John S on March 25, 2008 4:47 pm

Craig must not have seen all the games this year between Oakville and Guelph. It seemed that at least one of the above line from Guelph (and you know who he is), that you suggest is superior to Oakville’s top line, spent a lot of time in the penalty box and was eventually ejected and suspended for another game during the last game of the season for trying to instigate a fight. How does that help his line and even moreso, his team?

  25. Comment by Criag Melvilan on March 25, 2008 5:17 pm

Well John, I was actually at that game and all of his penalties were for hitting to hard or were terrible calls. I also recall that Guelph’s top line still put up more points than Oakville’s even though they weren’t together the whole night due to garbage calls. Although he was ejected from the game and suspened it didn’t end up costing him anyhting other than a nothign game against Welland and in return showed his team that he wouldn’t take any crap from Oakville. Overall, I’m sure his team had no problem with him sticking up for himself and if anythign had have happened his teamates would have jumped right in to help i’m sure. Thus shwoing that they are a team and have each other’s backs.

  26. Comment by John S on March 27, 2008 5:07 pm

Perception is 9/10ths of reality my friend.

  27. Comment by kyle on March 29, 2008 2:00 am

who is justin sefton? on the 2011 nhl draft pick list it has him sixth why isnt he on here?

  28. Comment by glerrty on March 31, 2008 10:16 pm

andrew mcann is dominating at times i have seen him play and with a little growth could be a very high prospect.
im thinking between the second and fifth rounds.

  29. Comment by John K on April 6, 2008 10:56 pm

{forward on Guelph} was sticking up fro his teammates? are you kidding me??? he clearly has some control issues if near the end of a 3-2 game he flips out on the oakville players and basically tries to get away from the ref which if he did, could have gotten him suspended for a lot more. He deserved those penalties that he got. Hes a headshot and nothing else. A lazy player who will probably be taken by some OHL team as a fighter and a fourth liner. He may have some talent but when he gets angry, he is going to put someone in a coma someday with his flying elbows.
P.S. if Guelph can back up their players so well and are so tight, why did they go a cool 0-4 in the OMHA’s? while oakville lostout to getting to the semis in a tie break?

  30. Comment by Nick P on April 7, 2008 12:08 am

Speaking of those two teams, Gueplh & Oakville… Who do you think has any potential to go anywhere out of those two teams…? And of course there are many other kids from Burlington & St.Kitts that are just great players ,but ya, im just curious what people think of those two teams..

  34. Comment by John on April 18, 2008 8:05 pm

I watched Andrew Shutt for the York-Simcoe Express earlier this year. By far the worst skater I have ever seen. He should no be up their at all!

  35. Comment by Martin on April 18, 2008 8:08 pm

i think so too. My dad was with me when we saw Andrew, he’s a scout for Innisfil Jr.a. He said the exact same thing.

  36. Comment by Gary on April 20, 2008 9:36 pm

Shutt is by far the worst player in the OMHA. Oakville looks really good this year, they got a few new players that are strong and should help them get far.

  37. Comment by John Christanson on April 21, 2008 9:45 pm

    GO Jake Eansor!

  38. Comment by hey on April 30, 2008 4:08 pm

For whoever said moody from richmond hill is a retard. Moody wouldnt make most AA teams.

  39. Comment by John on May 1, 2008 9:07 am

Darcy Greenaway who played Quinte a couple years ago is also a kid to look for. He played B hockey in Loyalist this past year and got over 200 goals in just over 50 games, and led the team to the OMHA finals where they beat out Strthroy in 5 games to claim the OMHA Championships. He is an amazingly smooth, fast skater, and has lots of talent with the puck. He is definanatly a kid to keep an eye on this year.

  40. Comment by John Knapp on May 1, 2008 9:14 am

Darcy Greenaway is also a kid to look out for this coming year. He played Quinte a couple years ago, but this past year he was forced to play B hockey in Loyalist (place near Kingston). He easily led the team with over 200 goals in just over 50 games. He also led the Loyalist Jets to the OMHA championships where they beat out Strathroy in 5 games to claim the OMHA Championship. This kid is an amazingly smooth skater, and has alot of talent with the puck. He is definatly a kid that scouts should keep an on this year.

  41. Comment by Kurt Mainse on May 1, 2008 12:08 pm

Another kid to look for is Darcy Greenaway. He played Quinte a couple years ago, but this year he was forced to play B hockey for Loyalist (place near Kingston). He easily led his team in scoring getting over 200 goals in only about 60 games. He also led his team to the OMHA finals in the “B” Division and beat out Strathroy in 5 games to claim the OMHA Championship. This kid is an amazing skater, and is a gifted player with the puck. He has great potential to go far, and he should definatly be watched closely this coming year.

  42. Comment by james cameron on May 3, 2008 9:46 am

im a AAA goalie and i have to say, the bset player ive seen in a while is either daniel cattenaci, adrew fritsch or mitch theoret. They are great players and will all probably go in the first round of next years draft.

  43. Comment by Jeff on May 4, 2008 12:07 am

Is it true that Daniel Cattenaci is interested in Maine if he doesn’t play in the OHL?

  44. Comment by Martin on May 4, 2008 11:34 pm

Daniel Catenacci will go 1st overall in the 2009 ohl draft

  45. Comment by doughtyerson on May 5, 2008 12:51 pm

Catenacci is not going number 1. Long ways away from the OHL draft yet. Matt Puempel may be the player going number 1.

  46. Comment by JP on May 5, 2008 6:56 pm

Justin Sefton is going is number one no questions asked

  47. Comment by Martin on May 5, 2008 8:05 pm

i garenteed the Catenacci will go first, i had a chance to see him play a year up AAA, what a talent.

where is Eric Wiebe and dylan Adams on this list for the notredame team

  49. Comment by Mark G. on May 8, 2008 6:02 pm

Craig, I diagree, I beleive Guelph’s defensive core is stronger than Oakville’s and I also clearly disagree with John when he says that Oakville has the best two goalies in the league, Taylor O’keefe and Jeff Perret are easily tops in the league ask any coach in the league, I talked with the Halton Hurracaines coach and he agreed with me as well.

where is barries star trent diaz?

  51. Comment by bill on May 12, 2008 11:36 am

Although skilled Trent Diaz lacks the strong physical presence needed for hockey at the OHL level!!

  52. Comment by Anonym on May 12, 2008 6:12 pm

There are only 2 goalies out of the OEMHL AAA on the list,??? !! wow
You’re missing a lot of excellent Goalies of the OEMHL; example: Drew Lawson Upper Canada Cyclones. (Won the AAA OEMHL 2008). Also where is Dominic Plaschy, Ottawa Jr 67’s: (Played in the OHL Cup 2008 with Minor Midgets). They are a Backbone to their Teams, Consistent and Dependable.

  53. Comment by Martin on May 13, 2008 7:53 pm

shut up trent, i know who you are, and you are number 11 for barrie on the AE team. Saggy was better then you, jk. Oh and i really like you easton stealth blue, pro stock too eh.

Joey Romano is going first round no question. My friend is a scout for the Guelph Storm and he told me he is going first round for sure.

obviously Justin Sefton is going first overall. He scored a Hatrick and got in a fight in the finals of his Jr. A championship game with the thunder bay kings. This was when he was only 1st year bantam. He even scored a goal vs. Carlyle moose mountain wild. He led Notre Dame to a 17-0 victory with that goal. No doubt, No question , 1st overall material

Mark G are you kidding me? Have you not seen Oakvilles goalies this year? They picked up Chris Festerini from the GTHL arguably top 3 in the league. Their defense has also gotten better too. Read the threads on the forums, oakville is top 3 this year in the SCTA.

Before that he played a tough talent in mack steele who matched him in goals but had less of a supporting staff to beat them. i think these two are the best none aa/aaa players out there.Steele had 140 points in only 40 games while getting 160 pims. Two gems out there.

Darcy Greenaway is good. But he is too small. All these comments are all not true exept for maybe a couple. In my opinion Greenaway might go third or fourth round. Romano should be in the first round not first overall but top 8. Other then that the list up at the top is complete balone. There are a couple players up there that will go high in the draft but other then those 15-20 players there is no one. I cant forget to add this in my opinion some were in the first round probably top 5 is Doucet and Quine.

    Thanks

    Bill

okay, oakville defense isnt crap, i play first line and we have someplayers that give it and some that do. wilton should definetly be on this list, he is a powerhouse natural born scorer and he is really good. number 11 billy bryer should be on a highr petistal. he has one of the hardest shots that i have ever seen on a 15 year old and he has great vision. he will definetly be picked up by an OHL team next year. Billy is one of the best athletes i have ever seen and all scouts you need to contact him. i am a scout from michigan and you will not be dissapointed.

    thanks

Justin Sefton….Sefty! Will go first overall in the OHL draft in 2009…this is a kid that has it all, size, skating and a great shot. Pases the puck well and can drop the gloves and take care of him self as well. He will only get better as he will be on the Famous Notre Dame Hounds Midget AAA team next year.
