OHA disscusses NHL Style Rules

The Ontario Hockey Association will be conforming to the NHL level of enforcement just like the rest of Canada. This is no suprise. However the OHA will be discussing the best format for enforcement of these rules. At the OHA's Referee School they will be testing three structures. The first structure is to maintain the standard One Referee and Two Linesmen. However the problem with this is that there are alot of penalties to be called and it may be difficult to have one referee call them all. Remember they are human. The second alternative is the Two Referee and One Linesmen. This ic currently used in the NCAA. Essentially the front referee acts as a linesmen(still able to call penalties) unitl the actual linesmen can relieve him of his duties. The final and more NHL style is to have Two Referees and Two Linesment, the system currently used by the OHL and NHL. Each system has its advantages however the most important aspect of this decsion will be the monetary. Most teams can afford to pay for four officials, that is why they are testing the two referee and one linesmen system.
