The new Penaty Standard at work

This weekend CHN got out to see some minor hockey under the New Standard. We observed some common trends between all the games. We found that the older players (i.e. Midget and Bantam) players were the hardest hit by the new penalty standards. Not to blame them however, they have been playing this style of play for the past 7 or 8 years. In general the games were faster and displayed far more talent when the teams “bought into” the new standard. What often happened was that in the last 5 minutes is that players began to get frustrated. They took “stupid” penalties, often the result was fights or the referee had to ease off. The AAA players seem to grasp the new standards quicker thus making that hockey that much better.
