Ontario Hockey Federation Removing Body Checking From Peewee and Below!

Rumour has it that the study of the Ontario Hockey Federation Body Checking Pilot Project has been completed. Apparently the OHF has decided that Body Checking will only be allowed at Peewee and above. This is due apparently to the fact that injuries were not reduced at all by the introduction of body checking at Minor Atom. Rumour has it that this change will take place next year in the 2007/2008 season. However this is simply a rumour, CNHB will keep you posted with any updates.

Here is a message from the Ontario Hockey Federation’s executive director;

“There will be no change next year for the OHF as it pertains to the introduction of Checking. This was determined at the Hockey Canada Semi-annual along with the direction of how the studies will be peer reviewed.

Phillip McKee
Executive Director
Ontario Hockey Federation
