Werek Might Just Report to Kingston

In a recent article posted in the Kingston Whig-Standard by Doug Graham (for PDF version click here), reports indicate that Ethan Werek might just end up playing in Kingston for the Frontenac’s. This would be a drastic change to the position that Ethan and his father Zeev held earlier this summer, just after the Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. Ethan went 9th overall in the Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, he was Kingston’s first pick. Unfortunately for Kingston, the top Prospect suffered a leg injury.

Werek joins a group of players who will be joining their respective (OHL) teams, amidst rumors of NCAA commitments. Lebar and Duchene also committed to attending their OHL teams.

Canadian Hockey News contacted Ethan Werek where he responded to the claims, to paraphrase correspondence. He stated that he was going to attend camp and make his decision to play in the OHL or NCAA after attending the camp. He did confirm his injury in an exhibition game playing for the Stouffville Spirit. He went on to say that he will be making his decision when he is better.

We wish Ethan Werek a speedy recovery, and best of luck with his decision.
